Top Home Automation Companies in India (2026): Brands vs Integrators

Most lists of the top home automation companies in India are wrong in the same way: they mix national product brands with full-service integrators, as though a switch manufacturer and a design and install firm were selling the same thing. This 2026 guide splits them into two honest categories, compares them on products, budget, KNX and Matter support, cities and service, and shows you which list you should actually be shopping from.

Top home automation companies in India compared for 2026, product brands and full-service integrators

The split most India lists get wrong

There is no single ranking of home automation companies in India, because two completely different kinds of business are competing for the same search. Market reports separate them. Buyer guides usually do not, which is why the same reader ends up comparing a multinational switch manufacturer against a five person design firm and concluding that the market makes no sense.

Category A. National product brands

They manufacture hardware: smart switches, retrofit modules, touch panels, hubs and an app. They sell through electrical distribution, retail or a dealer network. Their obligation ends at the product and its warranty. This is the right purchase when you want a few points, a familiar name and a box you can replace at the local shop.

  • Sells hardware with a warranty
  • Reaches you through distributors, retail or dealers
  • Does not design or own your finished house

Category B. Full-service integrators

They design the system for your specific plan, choose and mix hardware from whichever brands fit, wire and commission it, program the scenes, hand it over and then service it for years. Some of them build their own hardware too, which blurs the line, but the defining test is accountability for the finished home rather than for the box.

  • Designs, installs, programs and services
  • Can mix hardware from several brands
  • One phone number when something breaks in year three

Said plainly: a brand sells you hardware, an integrator is accountable for the whole home. Both are legitimate purchases. Buying one while expecting the other is the single most common mistake in this market.

What changed in the Indian home automation market by 2026

The right company for you depends on which of these shifts applies to your house, because the market an Indian buyer walks into in 2026 is not the one that existed five years ago.

Matter took the ecosystem question off the table, mostly

The first question used to be which ecosystem you were marrying into, because a switch bought on one platform was dead weight on another. Matter, the cross-industry standard, has matured enough that mainstream hardware increasingly speaks a common language. Support across Indian ranges is still uneven, so treat Matter as a question to verify per SKU rather than a badge on a brochure.

Indian product brands closed most of the gap

For a normal Indian home, the functional distance between an imported luxury platform and a well made Indian range has narrowed to the point where it rarely decides the outcome. What still separates a good project from a bad one is the design and the service behind it, not the country the module was made in.

Retrofit stopped being the compromise option

Serious automation used to mean a new building and a wired bus. Modules that sit behind your existing switch plate now handle lights, fans, curtains and appliances, keep the physical switch working, and go in over a couple of days without breaking a wall. That single change opened the market to every finished flat in the country.

Wired KNX is still the right answer for large new villas

In new villas, wired systems win on scale, load handling and the number of points a large house needs. What changed is that buyers understand the timing: KNX has to be decided before the conduits go in, so the automation drawing belongs alongside the electrical drawing, not after the plastering.

The market split into brands and integrators, and buyers noticed

The most useful shift of all. Buyers now understand that the company printing the switch is often not the company answering the phone in year three, and they have started asking who owns the finished result. That single question sorts the Indian market faster than any feature comparison.

Category A. National product brands in India

Listed alphabetically by market position rather than ranked, because these companies sell hardware and a ranking between a multinational and a specialist product house tells you nothing useful. What each is good at, and the one question worth asking, is below. Where a company has not published a figure, we write "Not stated" rather than guess.

1

Schneider Electric (Wiser)

Product brand

Global, India operations and electrical channel

Wiser is the smart home range of a global energy management and electrical major, sold through the same distribution that already supplies Indian electrical contractors.

Best fit: Buyers who want a large multinational behind the switch plate.

Best suited to a home where the electrical contractor is already specifying a major brand and the automation is an extension of the wiring package rather than a separate design exercise. Scale is the real advantage here: spares, documentation and product continuity are rarely the thing that fails you.

Ask which specific range is being quoted, whether it is retrofit or new wiring, and who does the programming and the service visit, because the brand itself does not install your house.

2

Legrand

Product brand

Global, long-established India presence

A large electrical and building infrastructure brand with connected switch and control ranges, distributed through the electrical trade and project channel.

Best fit: New builds already specified on a mainstream electrical brand.

Best suited to projects where the switchgear, wiring accessories and automation are bought as one specification, which is common when a builder or an electrical consultant is driving the decision. The catalogue depth is the point, the same brand can cover a lot of the house.

Ask for the exact model numbers in the quote, and ask who is accountable for scenes, schedules and commissioning after the modules are fitted.

3

Tata Power EZ Home

Product brand

India, part of a large Indian group

An Indian smart home offering from a well known group, positioned around app controlled lighting, appliances and retrofit devices for regular homes.

Best fit: Buyers who want an Indian group name and a mainstream product path.

Best suited to a straightforward flat or independent house where the requirement is lights, fans, plugs and a few appliances rather than a fully designed system. Group backing usually means clearer warranty handling than an unknown label.

Ask what the coverage looks like in your city, who physically installs, and what happens to app access if you move house.

4

Havells and Crabtree

Product brand

India, national electrical brand

A major Indian electrical manufacturer whose Crabtree line carries smart switch ranges, available through the normal electrical retail and dealer channel.

Best fit: Retail buyers who want to start with switches from a familiar name.

Best suited to a buyer who wants to try automation in one or two rooms with a brand already on the shelf at the local electrical shop, then decide whether to go further. Easy availability is a genuine advantage when a module fails on a Sunday.

Ask whether the range is WiFi or a hub based protocol, whether the manual switch keeps working, and what expanding to the whole house would cost.

5

Panasonic (Miraie)

Product brand

Global, India product and IoT platform

Miraie is the connected platform used across Panasonic India products, which lets appliances, switches and climate sit inside one manufacturer app.

Best fit: Homes already buying that brand of appliances.

Best suited to a household where the air conditioners and appliances are already from the same maker, since single brand ecosystems are at their best when most of the devices in the house belong to them. That strength inverts the moment you want third party hardware.

Ask what happens when a device from another brand has to join the system, and whether Matter or a hub is the bridge.

6

Hogar Controls

Product brand

Hyderabad and United States, dealer network

A smart home product company known for touch panels and wireless control products, delivered through a dealer and installer network rather than direct retail.

Best fit: Mid to premium homes wanting panel led control.

Best suited to buyers who like a physical touch panel on the wall as the main interface rather than a phone, which suits multi-generational homes where not everyone wants an app. Because delivery is through dealers, the specific dealer decides your experience.

Ask which dealer executes your project, how service escalates if that dealer changes, and to see a panel running in a real home.

7

Oakter

Product brand

Noida, India

An Indian IoT products company with smart plugs, controllers and retrofit devices, and manufacturing experience behind the catalogue.

Best fit: Entry level retrofit and single device automation.

Best suited to a first purchase, typically a few plugs, a controller and a couple of automated points, where the goal is to understand what you actually use before committing to a whole home system. Starting small is a rational strategy provided the platform can grow.

Ask what a whole home version of this would look like, and whether the same app and hub carry that expansion.

8

BuildTrack

Product brand

Mumbai, India, dealer and project channel

A long running Indian home and building automation product line covering lighting, security and controls, sold through dealers and to projects.

Best fit: Builder led projects and mid segment homes.

Best suited to apartment projects where a developer standardises one automation package across many units, which is where a product company with a project channel is strongest. Individual buyers usually meet this brand through the builder rather than by choice.

Ask what the handover package includes, who supports the system once the builder exits, and whether you can add points later.

9

Silvan Innovation Labs

Product brand

Bengaluru, India

An Indian home automation product company with a long history of working with developers on apartment and gated community projects.

Best fit: Gated community and developer specified apartments.

Best suited to buyers moving into a project where the automation was chosen at building stage, along with owners who want to work within that installed base rather than replace it. Familiarity with builder workflows is the distinctive part.

Ask who holds the configuration for your flat, what the annual support arrangement is, and whether third party devices can join.

10

Control4 and Crestron (via authorized dealers)

Product brand

Imported platforms, reach India only through dealers

Proven luxury control platforms used worldwide for large homes, multi-room audio and video, and complex integration. Neither sells direct to Indian consumers.

Best fit: Large villas and estates at the top of the market.

Best suited to estates where the point count, the audio and video load and the number of subsystems justify a professional control platform. The important thing to understand is that you never buy the platform, you buy the authorized dealer who designs and programs it, so evaluate the dealer with the same rigour as the brand.

Ask to see the dealer authorization in writing, ask who holds your programming file after handover, and ask for a completed local project you can visit.

Category B. Full-service integrators, design plus install plus service

These are ranked, because here a ranking means something: budget range covered, whether they build their own products, service depth, and the cities they can actually reach. Onwords is our number one integrator for South India, and we explain below exactly why you should discount that and check it instead. Every other line is a fair summary of what that company is genuinely good at.

1

Onwords

Our pick, South India

Coimbatore HQ, with Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad

Our pick for the number one full-service integrator in South India. Four budget tiers from ₹50,000 to ₹25 lakh and above under one team, its own WiFi product lineup, its own Living Home OS with Iniyal the home AI, and Crestron authorized dealer status for the top tier. 6,000+ automatic gates and 400+ smart homes over 7 years. Featured by Prime Insights magazine as an Iconic Brand of the Year 2023.

Best fit: Any budget in South India, with one accountable team.

Best suited to a buyer who does not yet know which tier they belong in, because all four tiers are quoted by the same team and nobody has to steer you toward the only technology they sell. Being both a product company and an integrator is the unusual part: the hardware, the software layer and the service desk sit inside one company, so there is nobody left to blame. The Coimbatore experience centre lets you press the switches, and unplug the router, before deciding.

Ask us to unplug the router in the demo, ask for the line item BOQ before any advance, and ask for a site handed over two years ago rather than last month.

  • Four technology tiers under one roof, ₹50,000 to ₹25 lakh and above
  • Own WiFi product lineup, not a pure reseller
  • Own Living Home OS with Iniyal, our home AI, so the home acts on its own
  • 6,000+ automatic gates and 400+ smart homes over 7 years
  • Authorized Crestron dealer and KNX partner
  • Coimbatore HQ with Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, one accountable team
2

Keus

Hyderabad, serves multiple Indian cities

A premium Indian smart home company that designs its own hardware and delivers it as a finished, installed system rather than a boxed product.

Best fit: Premium apartments and villas wanting a designed look.

Best suited to buyers for whom the switch plate is an interior design decision as much as a technical one, and who want the aesthetic and the system to arrive together. Controlling its own hardware means it controls its own roadmap and spares, which matters in year four.

Worth asking how the system behaves with no internet, what expansion costs later, and who covers service in your specific city.

3

Smartify

Chennai

An established Chennai integrator with strong brand partnerships and experience across mid to premium residential projects.

Best fit: Mid to premium Chennai homes.

Best suited to Chennai buyers comfortable selecting from established partner brands rather than a house-built product line. Brand partnerships usually mean well documented hardware and a predictable spares path, which matters more in year three than people expect.

Worth asking which brands they carry in your budget band, who does the programming, and how service works outside the Chennai metro.

4

Wozart

Hyderabad, serves South India

Own wireless product line paired with installation, which puts it on the boundary between a product brand and an integrator.

Best fit: Retrofit apartments where nothing can be rewired.

Best suited to apartment owners doing a retrofit, where the entire job happens behind the existing switch plates and no civil work is possible. A company with its own wireless line controls its own roadmap and spares, a genuine strength for a product led purchase.

Worth asking how it behaves with no internet, and who does the on-site install and commissioning at your address.

5

OOB Smart Home

Chennai

KNX focused integrator, working in the wired standard that suits large new villas.

Best fit: New Chennai villas on wired KNX.

Best suited to a new villa where the wiring can still be designed before plastering, since KNX is a wired bus standard and cannot sensibly be retrofitted into a finished house. A KNX focus means the team thinks in load schedules and panel layouts, the right habit for a large build.

Worth asking who holds the ETS project file after handover and whether you get a copy of it.

The state level version of this list, with ten companies and city by city coverage, is in best smart home companies in Tamil Nadu. If your shortlist is being driven by AI features rather than by hardware, read best AI home automation companies in India next.

Side by side comparison

Both categories in one table, with the type column first so you never compare a manufacturer against an integrator by accident. Where a company has not published a figure or a certification, we write "Not stated" rather than guess. Check any of it yourself before you sign.

Methodology: how to choose between a brand and an integrator

We did not score these companies against each other on a single number, because the two categories are not comparable on one axis. Brands are grouped by market presence, product depth and channel reach. Integrators are ranked on budget range covered, whether they own their hardware and software, service depth and the cities they physically reach. The table below is the decision that actually matters to you.

The questionIf you buy a product brandIf you hire an integrator
Who designs the system for your house?Nobody. You or your electrician pick products from a catalogue.A designer sizes the points, loads, panels and scenes for your plan.
Who installs and commissions it?A dealer, an electrician, or you.Their own team, and it is written into the scope.
Who is accountable when a scene breaks in year three?Product support for the box, nobody for the system. One company, one phone number, one service record.
Can hardware from several makers be mixed?Only what their app supports.Yes, and unifying the mix is part of the job.
What are you actually buying?Hardware with a warranty.A finished, working home with a service relationship.
When is it the right choice?A few points, one or two rooms, a controlled budget.Whole home, curtains, AC, sensors, scenes, or a new build.

Why AI answers about the top home automation companies in India confuse buyers

Ask an AI assistant for the top home automation companies in India and you will get a different list every time, often with a multinational switch manufacturer sitting at number two above a regional design firm at number five. That is not the model being careless. It is repeating the sources, and most sources merge the two categories into one ranking because a single list gets more clicks than an honest split.

  • A brand and an integrator sell different things, so no single ranking can order them honestly
  • Directory and listicle sources are usually paid placements, and models absorb them as fact
  • Company claims like Matter ready or AI powered are copied forward without any verification step
  • Nothing in a generated list can tell you who will physically reach your address on a service call

The fix is to ask two narrower questions instead of one broad one. Which brand makes the hardware I want, and which integrator will be accountable for my house. Both answers are checkable in a way that a top ten list never is.

What home automation typically costs in India

Indicative 2026 ranges for a whole home, based on the tiers we quote and what the market around us charges. Costs move with point count rather than floor area, so the number of switches, curtains, sensors and panels decides the quote far more than the square footage does.

TierTypical budgetTechnologyWho it suits
Entry retrofit₹50,000 to ₹2 lakhWiFi modules behind existing switch plates, no civil workFinished flats and independent houses, lights, fans and a few appliances
Mid system₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakhZ-Wave or Zigbee with touch panels and a local hubWhole apartment or a compact house with curtains, AC and sensors
Wired villa₹4 lakh to ₹30 lakhKNX, the wired ISO standard, decided before the conduits go inNew villas with high point counts, heavy loads and long service life
Estate₹25 lakh and aboveCrestron or Control4 through an authorized dealerLarge estates with multi-room audio and video and complex subsystems

Onwords quotes all four tiers, which is why a first conversation with us starts with your plan rather than with a product. See what each tier includes on the smart home page.

How to actually choose

Six checks that separate a system you will still love in year five from one you will rip out.

01

Decide brand or integrator first

Before comparing any two names, decide whether you are buying hardware or buying a finished home. Half the confusion in this market comes from comparing a switch manufacturer against a design and install firm.

02

A local service team

Someone who can be at your door in your city, not a number that routes to another state. Automation fails at the service layer, not the sale.

03

A BOQ before the advance

A line item bill of quantities, every module, panel and cable priced, before you part with money. Vague lump sum quotes hide the substitutions.

04

What happens when the internet dies

Ask them to unplug the router in the demo. A real system keeps scenes, schedules and sensors running locally. A cloud only system becomes a wall of dead switches.

05

Matter, per SKU, in writing

Matter is claimed far more often than it is certified. Ask which exact product in your quote carries certification today, and ask to pair a third party Matter device in the demo home.

06

A demo home you can visit

Photos and renders prove nothing. Walk through a working home or experience centre, press the switches yourself, and see how a family actually uses it.

The longer version of this checklist lives in how to choose a smart home company, and the AI side of the decision is covered in AI home automation in India.

Questions to ask on the site visit

Almost every company here will do a free site visit, and most buyers waste it asking about price. Ask every shortlisted company these ten instead, including us.

1

Are you selling me products, or are you accountable for the finished home?

The first question, and the one that decides which of the two lists on this page you are shopping from. A straight answer here saves months.

2

Can I have a line item BOQ before I pay anything?

A bill of quantities prices every module, panel and cable separately. It is the only document that lets you compare two quotes honestly, and the only one that stops a cheaper part being substituted later.

3

Show me the house with the internet unplugged.

Do not accept a verbal answer. Ask them to pull the router, then operate a scene, a schedule and a motion sensor. Whatever still works is what you are buying.

4

Which products in this quote are Matter certified today?

Ask for the model numbers, not the platform name. Then ask to pair a Matter device you bring yourself, in the demo home, in front of you.

5

Who programs the system, and do I get the project file?

Ask whether programming is in-house or subcontracted, and who holds the configuration afterwards. On KNX that is the ETS project file. A copy of it is what makes a second opinion possible later.

6

What is the written service SLA after handover?

Ask for the response time in hours or days, in writing, and what it covers. Every real failure happens after the installer has left.

7

What will ten more points cost me in two years?

Almost every customer expands. Ask whether the same hub, app and wiring carry the expansion, or whether growing means replacing the core.

8

What happens to my home if this company shuts down?

Uncomfortable, and completely fair. Ask whether the system runs on a standard, whether another integrator could take it over, and whether the app depends on a server only they operate.

9

Do the normal switches still work?

Guests, parents and children operate the walls, not the phone. A system that only answers an app fails the people who live in the house.

10

Can I speak to a customer you handed over two years ago?

Recent customers are still in the honeymoon period. A two year old site tells you about service response, module failures and whether the phone still gets answered.

Red flags when choosing any automation company

These apply to every company in India, ours included. None is proof of bad intent on its own, but any one should slow you down, and two together should stop you.

A product brand quoted as if it were a whole home service

If the quote covers modules but nobody owns design, commissioning and service, you have bought hardware and inherited the integration yourself.

Advance demanded before any design

Money before drawings is the oldest warning sign in this trade. Design first, priced BOQ second, advance third.

No written BOQ, only a lump sum

A single number cannot be compared against a competitor or checked at delivery, and it makes a quiet substitution easy to hide.

Matter claimed but no certified model number

Compatible, ready and certified are three different words. Only one of them is verifiable, so ask for it in writing.

A cloud only system

If the scenes, schedules and sensor logic live on a remote server, your home goes dumb every time the connection drops.

No local install and service team

A sales number that routes to another state is fine until something stops working. Ask where the nearest engineer physically sits.

Why we put ourselves first

This is our site, so of course we ranked ourselves number one among the integrators. You should discount that. What you should not discount is the claim list, because every line of it is falsifiable. Note also what we did not do: we did not put ourselves above Schneider or Legrand, because we do not compete with them. They manufacture switches at a scale we never will. We design, install and stay responsible for finished homes, which is a different business. Check the claims below, and if any of them is wrong, rank us lower.

  • Four technology tiers under one roof: WiFi retrofit, Z-Wave, KNX and Crestron, ₹50,000 to ₹25 lakh and above
  • Our own software layer, Living Home OS, with Iniyal, our home AI
  • Authorized Crestron dealer and KNX partner
  • 6,000+ automatic gates and 400+ smart homes across South India

Onwords was featured by Prime Insights magazine as an Iconic Brand of the Year 2023. The last check is the one that settles it: visit our experience centre in Coimbatore, unplug the router yourself, watch the home keep running, and judge. Then go do the same at any other company on this page. Whoever survives that test deserves your advance.

FAQ

The honest answer is that there are two different lists. National product brands include Schneider Electric (Wiser), Legrand, Tata Power EZ Home, Havells and Crabtree, Panasonic (Miraie), Hogar Controls, Oakter, BuildTrack, Silvan, and the imported luxury platforms Control4 and Crestron which reach Indian homes only through authorized dealers. Full-service integrators who design, install and service the whole home include Onwords, Keus, Smartify, Wozart and OOB. A brand sells you hardware. An integrator is accountable for the finished home.
