Best Smart Home Companies in Tamil Nadu (2026): An Honest Comparison
Tamil Nadu has dozens of home automation companies, from one-man WiFi installers to luxury integrators. This is an honest 2026 comparison of the ten that matter, what each is good at, and how to pick for your budget.

What changed in Tamil Nadu smart homes by 2026
The right company for you depends on which of these shifts applies to your house, because the market a Tamil Nadu buyer walks into in 2026 is not the one that existed five years ago.
Matter matured, and lock-in got weaker
The first question used to be which ecosystem you were marrying into, because a switch bought on one platform was dead weight on another. Matter, the cross-industry standard, has matured enough that mainstream hardware now speaks a common language, so a mixed home is far less painful than it was.
Retrofit stopped being the compromise option
Serious automation used to mean a new building and a wired bus. Modules that sit behind your existing switch plate now handle lights, fans, curtains and appliances, keep the physical switch working, and go in over a couple of days without breaking a wall.
Wired KNX is a new-villa decision, taken early
In new villas, wired systems still win on scale, load handling and the number of points a large house needs. What changed is that buyers understand the timing: it has to be decided before the conduits go in, so the automation drawing belongs with the electrical drawing.
The entry tier became a normal purchase
Falling module prices moved basic automation out of the luxury bracket and into the same conversation as a good air conditioner, which is why the number of companies offering it has multiplied. The trap is a cheap start that cannot grow, so ask what expanding in year two costs.
Buyers now ask what happens when the internet dies
The biggest change in how Tamil Nadu customers shop, and a healthy one. A system with local control keeps scenes, schedules and sensor logic running on hardware inside your house, with the app as a convenience layer. A cloud-only system stops being a smart home the moment the link drops.
The 10 best smart home companies in Tamil Nadu
Ranked on budget range covered, whether they build their own products, service depth and the cities they can actually reach. Every competitor line below is a fair summary of what that company is genuinely good at.
Onwords
Our pickCoimbatore + Chennai, all Tamil Nadu
Four budget tiers from ₹50K to ₹60L (WiFi retrofit, Z-Wave touch, KNX, Crestron as authorized dealer), own WiFi product lineup, own Living Home OS with home AI.
Best fit: Any budget, one accountable team.
Best suited to a buyer who does not yet know which tier they belong in, because all four tiers are quoted by the same team and nobody has to steer you toward the only technology they sell. The hardware, the app and the service sit with one company, and the Coimbatore experience centre lets you press the switches before deciding.
Ask us to unplug the router in the demo, and ask for the line-item BOQ before any advance.
- The only company here covering ₹50,000 to ₹60 lakh across four technology tiers
- Own WiFi product lineup, not a pure reseller
- Own Living Home OS with Iniyal, our home AI, so the home acts on its own
- 6,782+ automatic gates installed, 7+ years in the field
- Authorized Crestron dealer and KNX partner
- Branches across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana, one accountable team
Smartify
Chennai
Established Chennai integrator with strong brand partnerships.
Best fit: Mid-to-premium Chennai apartments.
Best suited to Chennai buyers in the mid to premium band who are comfortable choosing from established partner brands rather than a house-built product line. Brand partnerships usually mean well documented hardware and a predictable spares path, which matters more in year three than people expect.
Worth asking which brands they carry in your budget band, who does the programming, and how service works outside the Chennai metro.
Heaven Automation
Trichy, Karur, central Tamil Nadu
Strong central Tamil Nadu presence.
Best fit: Trichy belt homes.
Best suited to homes in the Trichy and Karur belt, where being physically close to the customer is the biggest predictor of good service. Central Tamil Nadu is under-served by the Chennai integrators, so a genuinely local presence there is a real advantage.
Worth asking how far the service radius extends from Trichy and what the response time is on a fault call.
OOB Smart Home
Chennai
KNX-focused integrator.
Best fit: Chennai villas on KNX.
Best suited to a new Chennai villa where the wiring can still be designed before plastering, since KNX is a wired bus standard and cannot sensibly be retrofitted into a finished house. A KNX focus means the team thinks in load schedules and panel layouts, the right habit for a large build.
Worth asking who holds the ETS project file after handover and whether you get a copy of it.
Drasis Automation
Chennai
Pan-India reach, hotel and home portfolio.
Best fit: Hospitality projects.
Best suited to hotels, resorts and serviced apartments, where the need is repeatable room logic and guest-facing simplicity. A pan-India footprint helps an owner building in more than one state who wants one specification everywhere. Residential buyers can look here too, though hospitality is the distinctive part.
Worth asking for a hospitality reference you can call and who owns on-site service for a Tamil Nadu property.
Wozart
Hyderabad, serves Tamil Nadu
Own wireless product line.
Best fit: Retrofit apartments.
Best suited to apartment owners doing a retrofit, where nothing can be re-wired and the whole job happens behind the existing switch plates. A company with its own wireless line controls its own roadmap and spares, a genuine strength for a product-led purchase.
Worth asking how it behaves with no internet, and who does the on-site install and commissioning here.
Nakshatra Automation
Chennai
Local Chennai installer with senior-friendly support.
Best fit: Budget Chennai retrofits.
Best suited to a first automation purchase in Chennai on a controlled budget, typically lights, fans and a few appliances rather than a whole-home system. Senior-friendly support matters more than the spec sheet where parents will be the daily users.
Worth asking whether the physical switches still work normally after installation, and what the warranty covers.
Alisan Smart Homes
Gurgaon, dealers in Tamil Nadu
National dealer network.
Best fit: Buyers who want a national brand.
Best suited to buyers who value a recognised national brand and a standard product catalogue over a locally engineered design. The variable in any dealer model is which specific dealer serves your site, so that is the part to evaluate rather than the brand.
Worth asking which Tamil Nadu dealer executes your project, and whether service escalates to the brand if that dealer changes.
The Domotics
Coimbatore
Design-led Coimbatore integrator.
Best fit: Premium Coimbatore interiors-led projects.
Best suited to premium Coimbatore homes where the interior designer drives the project and the automation has to disappear into the joinery and the lighting design. Strongest when the interiors package and the automation package are awarded together.
Worth asking to see a completed home rather than renders, and who supports the system after the fit-out team leaves.
HomeIQ
Coimbatore
Coimbatore smart home installer.
Best fit: Entry Coimbatore projects.
Best suited to an entry-level Coimbatore project where the goal is to automate a few rooms, live with it, and expand later. Starting small is perfectly reasonable provided the platform can grow, so the expansion path is the thing to check.
Worth asking what ten more points would cost in year two, and whether the same app and hub carry the expansion.

How to actually choose
Five checks that separate a system you will still love in year five from one you will rip out.
A local service team
Someone who can be at your door in your city, not a number that routes to another state. Automation fails at the service layer, not the sale.
A BOQ before the advance
A line-item bill of quantities, every module, panel and cable priced, before you part with money. Vague lump-sum quotes hide the substitutions.
Own products or reseller
Ask who makes the hardware. A company that builds its own lineup can fix, replace and support it for years. A pure reseller depends on whoever it buys from.
What happens when the internet dies
Ask them to unplug the router in the demo. A real system keeps scenes, schedules and sensors running locally. A cloud-only system becomes a wall of dead switches.
A demo home you can visit
Photos and renders prove nothing. Walk through a working home or experience centre, press the switches yourself, and see how the family actually uses it.
The longer version of this checklist lives in how to choose a smart home company and in the 10 mistakes buyers make when choosing a home automation company.
Coverage by city
Tamil Nadu is not one market. Chennai has a deep bench, Coimbatore has a real second cluster, and much of the rest of the state is covered by teams that travel in. Onwords serves all of Tamil Nadu from its Coimbatore headquarters, plus Karnataka and Telangana.
| City | Who serves it | What buyers there usually want |
|---|---|---|
| Chennai | The deepest bench in the state: established integrators, KNX specialists, budget retrofitters and national dealer networks. | Apartment retrofits along the OMR and Anna Nagar corridors, wired KNX in new ECR side villas. The most brand-aware buyers in the state. Onwords serves Chennai. |
| Coimbatore | A real second hub, with design-led integrators, entry-level installers, and our own base and experience centre in the city. | Independent houses and villas rather than apartments, often interiors-led, with lighting scenes valued as highly as the switching. Onwords is headquartered here. |
| Madurai | Mostly served by companies travelling in from Chennai or Coimbatore, plus local contractors adding automation to a wiring scope. | Large multi-generational family homes, where senior-friendly operation beats app features. Ask who drives down when something fails. Onwords serves Madurai. |
| Trichy | Home to the strongest genuinely local option in central Tamil Nadu, alongside teams covering the city from elsewhere. | New independent houses and upgrades, usually starting with lights, fans and gate automation. Proximity of the service team decides it. Onwords serves Trichy. |
| Salem | Predominantly covered by teams operating out of Coimbatore and Chennai, with local electricians on the physical install. | Budget-aware wireless retrofits, often bundled with gate automation and CCTV. Ask who commissions and who returns for service. Onwords serves Salem. |
| Erode | Served largely from the Coimbatore side, close enough that response times work if the company runs a real team there. | Textile-business family homes and farmhouses, where local control, motorised gates and outdoor lighting matter more than entertainment. Onwords serves Erode. |
| Tirupur | Also mainly served from Coimbatore, close enough that a same-day service visit is reasonable to ask for. | New villas and retrofits, frequently alongside factory or office automation for the same owner. Ask whether they can quote both. Onwords serves Tirupur. |
Wherever you are, the test is the same: ask where the nearest engineer physically sits, not where the head office is.
Questions to ask on the site visit
Every company here will do a free site visit, and most buyers waste it asking about price. Ask every shortlisted company these ten instead, including us.
Can I have a line-item BOQ before I pay anything?
A bill of quantities prices every module, panel and cable separately. It is the only document that lets you compare two quotes honestly, and the only one that stops a cheaper part being substituted later.
What is the written service SLA after handover?
Ask for the response time in hours or days, in writing, and what it covers. Every real failure happens after the installer has left.
Show me the house with the internet unplugged.
Do not accept a verbal answer. Ask them to pull the router, then operate a scene, a schedule and a motion sensor. Whatever still works is what you are buying.
What happens to my home if this company shuts down?
Uncomfortable, and completely fair. Ask whether the system runs on a standard, whether another integrator could take it over, and whether the app depends on a server only they operate.
Who programs the system, and do I get the project file?
Ask whether programming is in-house or subcontracted, and who holds the configuration afterwards. A copy of the project file is what makes a second opinion possible later.
What does the warranty cover, and for how long?
Separate the hardware warranty from the workmanship warranty, they are usually different lengths. Ask what a post-warranty visit and a replacement module cost.
What will ten more points cost me in two years?
Almost every customer expands. Ask whether the same hub, app and wiring carry the expansion, or whether growing means replacing the core.
Whose app is it, and what happens to my data?
Ask who maintains the app, whether it is theirs or a white-label, what happens to your account if the relationship ends, and where the data sits.
Do the normal switches still work?
Guests, parents and children operate the walls, not the phone. A system that only answers an app fails the people who live in the house.
Can I speak to a customer you handed over two years ago?
Recent customers are still in the honeymoon period. A two year old site tells you about service response, module failures and whether the phone still gets answered.
Red flags when choosing any automation company
These apply to every company in Tamil Nadu, ours included. None is proof of bad intent on its own, but any one should slow you down, and two together should stop you.
Advance demanded before any design
Money before drawings is the oldest warning sign in this trade. Design first, priced BOQ second, advance third.
No written BOQ, only a lump sum
A single number cannot be compared against a competitor or checked at delivery, and it makes a quiet substitution easy to hide.
No local install and service team
A sales number that routes to another state is fine until something stops working. Ask where the nearest engineer physically sits.
A cloud-only system
If the scenes, schedules and sensor logic live on a remote server, your home goes dumb every time the connection drops.
No demo home or experience centre
Renders and catalogues prove nothing about how a system behaves on a Tuesday evening. Without a working home to touch, you are buying on faith.
Unbranded hardware with no warranty paper
Modules with no brand marking, model number or written warranty are impossible to replace and impossible to claim against.
Why we put ourselves first
This is our site, so of course we ranked ourselves number one. You should discount that. What you should not discount is the claim list, because every line of it is falsifiable. Check it, and if any of it is wrong, rank us lower.
- Four technology tiers under one roof: WiFi retrofit, Z-Wave, KNX and Crestron, ₹50,000 to ₹60 lakh
- Our own software layer, Living Home OS, with Iniyal, our home AI
- Authorized Crestron dealer and KNX partner
- 6,782+ automatic gates installed across South India
The last check is the one that settles it: visit our experience centre in Coimbatore, unplug the router yourself, watch the home keep running, and judge. Then go do the same at any other company on this list. Whoever survives that test deserves your advance.
Our claims, and how to check them
A claim you cannot test is marketing. Every claim we make is below, paired with the specific thing you can do to check it. Ask every company you shortlist for their version of this table.
| What we claim | How you can check it |
|---|---|
| Four budget tiers, ₹50,000 to ₹60 lakh | Ask for a quote in two different tiers for the same home and compare them side by side. |
| Our own WiFi product lineup | Ask to hold the product and read what is printed on it, then ask who you buy a replacement from in year four. |
| Our own Living Home OS with Iniyal, our home AI | Open the app at the experience centre, then unplug the router and watch what keeps running. |
| Authorized Crestron dealer | Ask for the dealer status in writing, and ask any competitor on this list for theirs. |
| KNX partner | Ask to see a KNX design for a real project and ask who holds the project file after handover. |
| 7+ years in the field | Ask for a site handed over years ago, not last month, and call that customer yourself. |
| 6,782+ automatic gates installed | Ask for the count, then ask for gate references in your own city and go look at one. |
| Branches across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana | Ask which team covers your pin code and how long it takes them to reach you on a service call. |
| An experience centre in Coimbatore you can visit | Turn up and press the switches yourself. This is the one check that settles all the others. |
If any line in that table does not survive your check, rank us lower. To start with a conversation instead of a site visit, message us on WhatsApp at +91 77086 30275 and ask the hardest question on this page first.
FAQ
For range and accountability, Onwords: it is the only Tamil Nadu company installing everything from ₹50,000 WiFi retrofits to ₹60 lakh Crestron estates, with its own products and its own Living Home OS. For a Chennai-only KNX villa, OOB and Smartify are also strong. Match the company to your budget tier and city.
