How wireless touch automation works
Wireless touch switches use the Z-Wave or Zigbee protocols and connect through a central hub. Unlike retrofit modules that hide behind existing switches, a wireless touch system replaces your switches with modern touch panels that become a design element of your home. There are no wires between the switches and the hub.
Z-Wave is our main premium wireless protocol. It runs on its own low-power radio, on a different frequency from WiFi, so it does not compete with your phones and TV. Every mains-powered device repeats the signal for the others, so the mesh grows stronger as you add devices. Scenes, schedules and switch control run on the hub inside your home, not in the cloud.
Why Choose Smart Home Wireless?
Battery Powered
Many devices run on batteries for years, no electrical work needed.
Portable & Flexible
Take your smart home with you when you move. Perfect for renters.
Easy DIY Setup
Simple app-guided installation. Be smart in hours, not days.
Multi-Protocol
Zigbee, Z-Wave, WiFi, and Matter compatible for maximum choice.
What You Can Achieve
Freedom without wires - here's what's included:
Who wireless is for
Finished homes that want more than WiFi
Finished apartments and independent homes that want reliability beyond WiFi.
Interior upgrades
Redoing your interiors? Add smart touch switches without breaking walls or rewiring.
Switches as a design statement
For homeowners who want switches to be a design statement, not just functional.
Spread-out homes
Each mains device extends the network, so coverage scales with device count, not router placement.

Bedrooms and passages
- One touch for Good Night
- Motion-based lighting in passages
Entrance and security
- Battery-powered motion, door and leak sensors
- Smart locks on the same system
Finishes
- Sleek tempered glass panels
- Brushed steel and brass options
How a wireless installation happens
No civil work, and the home stays livable throughout.
- 1
Survey and count the loads
We walk the house and count every load you want controlled: each light circuit, fan, AC, geyser, curtain motor and socket.
- 2
Pick panels and finishes
Choose switch designs room by room. A low-risk mix is touch panels in the living, dining and master bedroom, with normal switches and smart modules elsewhere.
- 3
Install panels, sensors and the hub
Touch panels replace your existing switches, sensors mount without cabling, and one central hub connects every device.
- 4
Program scenes and hand over
We build your scenes and schedules on the hub and connect the Onwords Home Pro app, Apple Home and Matter. The same installer who built your system answers your service calls.
What to know before you decide
A hub is part of the system
Wireless touch runs through a central hub. It is not a plug-and-play, router-only setup.
Higher cost than WiFi retrofit
Device cost is higher than WiFi, per point and across the home.
Structure matters
It is still radio, so very thick or metal-heavy structures need planning.
Retro, Wireless or Wired?
Wireless sits between the other two: more features than retrofit, without the civil work of a wired build.
Smart Home Retro
Best for: finished homes and a first smart home
Onwords modules behind your existing switches. No civil work, and your switch plates stay as they are.
Smart Home Wireless
Best for: finished homes that want premium touch panels
Z-Wave or Zigbee touch panels and sensors on a central hub. A step up in design and feel, without breaking walls.
Smart Home Wired
Best for: new builds and villas, before plastering
KNX bus cable to every switch and sensor, with the switching done in central panels. Planned in during construction.
Frequently asked questions
Does wireless touch automation work without internet?
Yes. Z-Wave is a local mesh, so scenes, schedules, motion-triggered automations and switch control run on the hub inside your home. The internet is only needed for remote app control and voice assistants.
What happens during a power cut?
Z-Wave devices resume normal operation the moment power returns, with no re-pairing. Battery-powered sensors keep working through the outage, and the hub has an optional UPS.
Does it work with Apple Home, Alexa and Google?
Yes. Our Z-Wave installations bridge to Apple Home and Matter through the Onwords Home Pro gateway, and Alexa and Google are supported as well.
Can I mix touch panels and normal switches?
Yes, and it is often the best approach. Put touch panels where you entertain guests and want scenes, and normal switches with smart modules in store, utility and service areas.
Is wireless a good fit for a rented home?
Keep a rental reversible. Plug-and-play devices and battery sensors leave no trace, but anything that touches wiring needs your landlord's written permission first.
